An amazing weekend. Two nights in Birmingham’s S

An amazing weekend. Two nights in Birmingham’s Symphony Hall & 2 nights at London’s Royal Albert Hall. A mixture of sadness as we say a restful retirement to Gilson Lavis from the drumming world. I’ve been in Jools’s band for 18 years and Gilson has been outstanding throughout, but he’s been with Jools for over 50 years, levels of friendship and musicianship and life beyond all realms of glory. Beautiful performances from Marc Almond, Toby Lee, Sumudu and a surprise performance from Paul Weller, we all saluted Gilson with full praise and honour as he plays with us for the final time. Lovely to see friends and family attending all nights. Alicia working behind the scenes as a crew member as well. What a tour. I couldn’t fit anymore in, and I’ll just have to make another reel of joy with more content. David Gilmour, band, family, songs, playing the piano, cameras and photographs, amazing food and hotels, crew, people, guest lists, travel days, TV shows,Brighton, Rome, RAH, LA, Hollywood Bowl,Madison Sq Gardens, new friends, old colleagues, laughing, trying to sleep, rehearsals, babies, toddlers, children, security men, cowbell, solos, duets, guitars, drums, keyboards, sadness, church services, shopping, visitors, vehicles, applause, beautiful messages, backstage, on stage, side of stage, dressing rooms, outfits, boots, belts, sound, lights, action, OH NY LORD. To everyone involved in the Gilmour journey of wonder, it was certainly one of the best. I got yiue play and sing on one the greatest songs on the planet quite a few times. Gutted and sorry to hear about the death of Sergio

Gutted and sorry to hear about the death of Sergio Mendes, one of my faves, not only for listening but for performing too. My Seriously Mendes show is full glory to the Brazil 66 album. What a legend. Long may he rest in peace. In my band at different occasions, John Smith, keys, Danny Marsden on trumpet, Dave Arch on keys, Steve Pearce on bass, Giorgio Serci on guitar, Tristan Bans on drums and Geoff Gascoyne on bass, Dan Ellis on percussion, I’ve performed several concerts at Pizza Express Holborn and The Pheasantry and in Sardinia. Thank you to his genius songs and arrangements.

Full rejoicing that I will be part of David Gilmour’s touring band this year. Heading to Rome in late September and early Oct, London’s Royal Albert Hall mid Oct, LA in late Oct into early November and finishing In New York.
Fellow backing singers will be The Webb Sisters, Hattie and Charley, Greg Phillinganes on keyboard, Guy Pratt on bass, Rob Gentry on keyboards, Ben Worsley on guitar and Adam Betts on drums. Also joining us for the tour is Romany Gilmour, David’s daughter who has grown into a delicious natural performer and sings lead and backing vocals on the new album.

A delight to work with not only David, but Polly, who has not only written the lyrics on the new album but is documenting moments as the master of photography, alongside the amazing Gavin Elder, film expert of wonder, Mark Brickman and Gabe Gilmour taking the steps into lighting the stage with their skills. Old and new friends in the crew are also with us on this journey which makes the next few months very special.

Are you ready???

With David’s new album release ‘Luck and Strange’ out on Sept 6th, it’s a splendid honour and joyous time to be singing and performing such gems for the next few months.

I look forward to joining Jools Holland on his Winter Tour from November 14th with special guest, Marc Almond.
