I’ve been rejoicing and listening to the glory of such a wonderful project that I’ve been part of this summer of 2025. My lovely friend CJ Ranger put my name forward to work with Irvine Welsh (Trainspotting) and Steve Mac with a Soul project that they were working with for Irving’s 13th book, Men in Love.
Headed down to Steve’s studio and met Scott Booth and got to sing on some ridiculously impressive looking microphone and I let looks on the songs that they gave me to listen to. Woooshhhh, I love them all, plus I got to sing BV’s form Shaun Escoffrey’s solo tracks as well.
They were all released slowly one by one over the build-up to the launch of both book and vinyl.
My fave track on the album is Dreams. It gives me a chance to use a slightly different timbre to my voice that I would not ordinarily sing with all the time, thinking of Diana Ross style, a class above everyone else. The other tracks, You Gotta Be Strong and A Whole New Side of Me show as off other elements of my voice. I’ve loved the whole process. Plus, to be have my name on a record, well, it’s a joy! Love at Last, a softer vibe but still with wonderful 70’s vibes ringing through.
Thank you Irvine for such kind strong words and Steve Mac, king of the analogue world and synth genius, along with Scott Booth, its been a pleasure. Onwards to more delights like this, and maybe a Prom at the RAH, just putting it out there!
