Gutted and sorry to hear about the death of Sergio

Gutted and sorry to hear about the death of Sergio Mendes, one of my faves, not only for listening but for performing too. My Seriously Mendes show is full glory to the Brazil 66 album. What a legend. Long may he rest in peace. In my band at different occasions, John Smith, keys, Danny Marsden on trumpet, Dave Arch on keys, Steve Pearce on bass, Giorgio Serci on guitar, Tristan Bans on drums and Geoff Gascoyne on bass, Dan Ellis on percussion, I’ve performed several concerts at Pizza Express Holborn and The Pheasantry and in Sardinia. Thank you to his genius songs and arrangements.

Full rejoicing that I will be part of David Gilmour’s touring band this year. Heading to Rome in late September and early Oct, London’s Royal Albert Hall mid Oct, LA in late Oct into early November and finishing In New York.
Fellow backing singers will be The Webb Sisters, Hattie and Charley, Greg Phillinganes on keyboard, Guy Pratt on bass, Rob Gentry on keyboards, Ben Worsley on guitar and Adam Betts on drums. Also joining us for the tour is Romany Gilmour, David’s daughter who has grown into a delicious natural performer and sings lead and backing vocals on the new album.

A delight to work with not only David, but Polly, who has not only written the lyrics on the new album but is documenting moments as the master of photography, alongside the amazing Gavin Elder, film expert of wonder, Mark Brickman and Gabe Gilmour taking the steps into lighting the stage with their skills. Old and new friends in the crew are also with us on this journey which makes the next few months very special.

With David’s new album release ‘Luck and Strange’ out on Sept 6th, it’s a splendid honour and joyous time to be singing and performing such gems for the next few months.

Today, like most children, School is beckoning. Though I’m away on tour rehearsing, still my brain goes to Alicia and hoping she gets up on time for her first day back for her last year at school. She’s had a whirlwind Summer, a National Youth Choir course in York, magnificent 15-18 years singing exquisitely, conducted by Greg Beardstall sadly retiring from his duties after 20 golden years. Thanks to Greg, the choir also sang an arrangement of mine, ‘Swing Low’ which sounded glorious. Alicia’s work experience was working backstage with the Jools Holland crew on the Summer Tour which was wonderful to see her working so hard in an amazing environment. She’s been a beauty throughout the whole Summer. Onwards to all children going back to school today, hurrrayyyyy!

Family concert of joy and wonder on Sunday, 1st Se

Family concert of joy and wonder on Sunday, 1st September at Oldham Parish Church to celebrate the life of our mother who sadly passed away in 2016. It is a time where we get together as a family and give praise and musical sprinkles from our hearts at such a wonderful annual event. Thank you to everyone who raised money towards Dr. Kershaws Hospice and gave their time to this service. A rare treat for me to sing alongside Melanie and Wayne in the last piece. Thank you to the Hope Singers and In Harmony choir, Praise the Lord indeed. Thank you for all the donations, raising over £5000. Planning a date is quite crazy but we did it again. My fabulous niece and nephew, Martina and James., my daughter Alicia, my husband Danny, all the church wardens at the church and behind the scenes folk. All the vicars and helpers. Special thanks for our Dad to organising a lot of the music, Paul Monk for the lovely poster and programmes, all the people at the raffle and the balloons which were donated too. Lovely singing by Lorraine Harris, joyous playing from the Steel Band, seeing beautiful friends plus some of my past school teachers and friends coming up and saying hello, it’s a tonic of goodness. Practice makes perfect as Alicia, Danny practiced our trio whilst on holiday in France in the ballroom of dreams. See you all at the next one.

Full relaxations at @chateaulagrandemaison with @billie.godfrey_singer_songwrtr and her beau husband Ben and wondrous child @ella.mtll for a few days on our holidays. Food, wine, visiting neighbouring towns of joy plus being able to rehearse in their beautiful ballroom for a up and coming concert was delicious. Happy birthday to @billie_godfrey_music on her weekend of delight. Full laughter and treats. Book and be rejoicing at the glory of their five star hospitality ratings at @chateaulagrandemaison

We had a cracking time down at The Pheasantry and creating the flavours of Sergio Mendes once again. Thank you to friends and family, Melanie, coming to support me, happy early birthday to Hannah and bringing Carli and Bella, Simon King, great to see you and your bestie, Ainur, looking like a beauty, Phil Ayers, Karl Charity and Sarah Bolter, Shaun Thompson, Wendy from Waitrose, finding new fans and my long time fans who are always in the front row and being incredibly supportive. The Pheasantry and its new lighting display, too big to get into my car but perfect for my lounge one day. Graham Dominy on sound, and all the lovely staff working behind the scenes. A joyous evening.

Final gig in July with @jools.holland.official in the wondrous @jazz_in_marciac where we played to a beautiful and hot crowd. Loved it, the travel, the people backstage and joyous in the sunshine and music. Yes, me scatting and free to make up my lyrics with Jools’s own song ‘Much more hope than me’ and then ‘Let it Roll’. Well done to @dereknashsax giving French flavours on La Vie En Rose, @tobyleeguitar @sumudusinger @gilson_lavis @annabrooks @rubyturner_soul and the full orchestra, well done to us all. On afterwards was @jacobcollier and delights of @take6official and the icing on the cake was having @al1cia.x join me, not only to share in the mini girls trip away but to also continue loving being backstage with the guys helping out. What more could I ask for. Roll on Summer and projects of glory.

June, July, a total blur from all the activities I

June, July, a total blur from all the activities I seem to get through doing. Here’s a snippet of my crazy life, plus I had a sprinkle of Coviditis in the middle of it all. Driving, eating well, recording sessions, rehearsals, taking vocal workshops, learning new songs, even had my child Alicia on her Work Experience working behind the scenes at work, thanks to Jools, & especially Andy Salmon, Clem Southgate, Joel Storr and all backstage crew for being top guidance folk. Lovely to see friends, find new friends, play to wonderful audiences, sing and travel in all types of weather, wear gorge outfits of wonder, get to do what I was born to do. Woooohoooo! Thank you to Melanie for keeping my home in tiptop condition whilst I travel the world. Praise the Lord for everything and lift our heads high for everyone in our hearts, always. All we can do is guide our lives as we wish….. so much ramblings, that’s enough for now. THANK YOU TO EVERYTHING!

Lovely trip to Lyon to perform at @jazzavienne with @jools.holland.official with @tobyleeguitar but for first time ever, rain, thunder AND lightning stopped our gig just before @rubyturner_soul had to come on stage. That means, we’ve just gotta come back and finish our set next year and see @rhoda.scott.official once again who opened for us. At least it was a lovely temperature so us girlies could wear our fancy outfits, thank you @bashparis Wonderful photos by @jazzavienne photographers. What a night.

Mr and Mrs @louis_moore23 and @ellcmoorex Fabulousness, married on 7th June and what a setting, beautiful day and blessed with the Lord’s sunshine. Lovely to see family and friends from too long ago being reunited. Their gift from us was my band for the evenings festivities of music and wonder with @lukesmithmusic @mrbigstuff23 @stevewalters664 @carlos_hercules_drummer and Danny Marsden, the uncle to Ellie, a wonderful day with food and sound and delights everywhere, thank you @will.inscoe_music for earlier musical delights at the ceremony and @infinite_catering with their special added joyousness and generally a lovely time. Congrats indeed. The crowd danced from the minute we were on there. Wooohoooo!

Then two gigs of wonder in @bmusic_ltd Birmingham Town Hall (8th) and @snapemaltings (11th) with the amazing @lovattmike and with the arrangements by Colin Skinner, they have put together a programme of Ella Fitzgerald and Sinatra music gems. Lovely to sing with the orchestra @jools.holland.official @imeldaofficial @tobyleeguitar @sumudusinger @rubyturner_soul for a fun festive hour of music. Thank you to @bashparis. Another gorge outfit selected by @karenmcbain Claire Hanauer and Monete Kirk down in Guildford, boots and dress of comforts. A joy to see friends who I haven’t seen for ages as well visiting too. Beautiful time.

I wish, sadly not but I made this video awhile ago and now I can present it. A collage of the collection of beau people I get to perform with over the journey of my continual wonderful musical sprinkles. Onwards to everyone performing there this year, it’s like a city for a week. Electric pylongs above sizzling as they keep @glastofest all afloat. Let’s see if Shania gets her small request to ride her horse on that stage.
